Windows 7: Quick, but probably stupid

Quick, but probably stupid

I'm using Kaspersky as my Default Protection. Could I download MSE and disable the Realtime Protection? I did a quick test on my old PC and noticed that the MSE Scanner picked up some stuff that neither Kaspersky or Malwarebytes picked up.

Trust me, uninstall what you have and use MSE in conjunction with Malwarebytes. You will have great protection with no problems.

If you're using a 'paid for' version of Kaspersky then you can disable the realtime protection of MSE in the settings page.

Quick, but probably stupid-capture.png

If, however, it's a free version you might want to replace Kaspersky with MSE but that's just my personal preference, the decision is entirely yours

I still have at least 300 days or so left on my current 2011 license. Seems kind of a waste of money, I had no plans to renew unless the 2012 edition is lighter on resources and ditches the awful green UI.

If that's the case I'd go with turning MSE real-time protection off as it's the more viable with your current licence.

The money is gone. Now the choice. Good protection, money gone, or potential problems money gone.

Hi, EchoX860.

Unless you are having problems or an unlimited budget, I personally never recommend removing a licensed antivirus program with time remaining on the license for a free program. When it is renewal time, make your decision then on what you want for protection.
