MSE and Windows Firewall was substitute for UAC?
Great gurus of all security measures,
Lately I've run across claims that between MSE and Wndows Firewall that one does not need to use UAC.
Is there any truth to this assertion?

Hello Karl,
No this is not true since UAC (helps prevent programs from running as elevated without you knowing it) is not the same type of security feature as MSE (antivirus/malware protection and removal) or Windows Firewall. The green INFO box at the top of the tutorial below has more details about what exactly UAC is for if you like.
User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings
Hope this helps some,
Shawn
Hi Shawn,
Thanks. That confirms my evaluation, but thought I'd check since lately I've seen people claiming that UAC is no longer needed and, as is often the case, claiming that the opinion is from microsoft. I think this comes from statements made on the "social" discussion groups. Seems many people think that's an official mouth for Microsoft.

LOL, UAC may seem like a pain with the prompts, but it's no where near the pain in the if malware or some other nasty program was allowed to run elevated by mistake or if it's own accord without UAC asking you if it's ok first.
