I don't see it on my system. Maybe because I have NIS_2011 installed and it sees I have protection.

It could be that as Windows has detected an active Anti-Virus that it deems MSE an unnecessary update

Check Orbital Shark's screen shot...it's listed under important updates not optional.

I didn't get any notification yet but that's probably, like already mentioned here, because I have another AV already installed. (MSE stood me up once, that's why I don't want it).

BTW: any idea how to get rid of those 35 offered language packs? most of those languages I don't speak

Just right click on the language update and hide. Its hilarious really.
