    MSE Whats this mean in event viewer


    Hi guys
    I keep getting the following error in event viewer at every boot but i know my mse is up to date and the mse itself never reports any problems.Should i just ignore it or is there a problem.]Thankyou

    It means you need to update your mse.

    My mse is upto date it updates every 6 hours and has done for months but stll get the error on reboot any ideas

    You are not alone.

    Filter driver error is appearing in the System Event Log

    However, error 80004005 seems to be a generic error that can be caused by anything. So please try a couple of things:

    1) Run a scan with Malwarebytes.

    2) Run a sfc scan.

    Just to be sure open MSE window. Click the curtain arrow marked yellow in pic.
    Click Upgrade. This will make sure you have latest non beta version.
    I'm sure you probably have but it won't hurt to check.

    sfc/scannow showed nothing running malwarebytes now but did run this yesterday and it found nothing.Am running version 1.0 and recieved the big update this morning to 1.95.30 so i know im up to date this makes no sense at all.

    Tried reinstalling and the same thing on reboot will open a case with microsoft.Ive just noticed in task scheduler a second mse task MPIdleTask below the scheduled scan task which is running and thrashing my hard drive and cpu is this normal

    You just reinstalled, so it is doing a idle background scan to create a base comparison scan. That way it can detect changes to the registry to stop malware etc.
