Have you run malwarebytes to make sure there's no hidden virus or malware?
Malwarebytes has finished with the quick scan=nothing found... The full scan was performed about month ago.
I have one question: Why does Windows Update flag MSE updates as "Optional"? As far as I can remember, during the beta of MSE 2, updates were flagged as "Recommended" that's why they're installed automatically.
I don't know if this is the reason, but if I remember correctly, when MSSE first came out Microsoft said they were not going to include the updates through the automatic update system in order to placate the other anti-virus companies. For whatever reason, this has changed.
I always updated version 1 through the program itself and for the most part, do the same with version 2, so I don't remember version 1 as being a "Recommended" update.
Re-reading, I see that you were speaking of the Beta not version 1. I gotta get better with my reading skills!!!

well, all of a sudden today mse blinked orange/yellow to complain it was unprotected
and it wanted to upgrade / reboot... and at 2.0.657.0 now
indeed. i'm most pleased with:
- 1. it being pushed by itself as an upgrade and not having to do so manually
- 2. it uninstalling and configuring automatically
- 3. quick install process
only thing i didnt like was the required reboot and some vague event log error about network level inspection whatsit that it fixed itself.
cant see an option for that inspection in the windows firewall settings...or am i just going blind...?
Does this happen to anyone else? In MSE 1.0 it use to come up with a pop up saying "Schudled Scan has started" I moved away from MSE and then when 2.0 i came back to it. I came back and now i never get a pop up saying it started. Does anyone else get a pop up or not?
