AVG 2011 spyware?

    AVG 2011 spyware?


    avg just changed my firewall settings after stopping its scan without me telling it to. i also found windows remote access in my start menu after leaving my computer on for three days when i dont even know where i would find such a program. am i being paranoid? both AVG and MalwareBytes havent found any threats

    Since you suspect AVG of nefarious activity, I would recommend uninstalling it, making sure Windows Firewall is turned on, and then installing MSE -- its free here http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/, and doing a full system scan.

    That way, you can know for sure.

    I had this same problem. I had remote connection AND snipping tool in my recent programs lol. You can imagine my paranoia. After some research I discovered that these are default apps that win7 has.in the programs list. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

    shit man thanks. im just worried because i can see all these other peoples shared networks on my campus network and i never think i have enough defense up

    Glad to help. As long as you are keeping AVG up to date, I wouldnt waste too much time worrying.

    If you're real paranoid and don't use it yourself, you could also uncheck allow remote use on the System Properties window.
