Norton 360 v3 is supposed to be the best all round suite, there is also Agnitum Outpost Pro, I'm using Eset Security suite v4. You can download trials from all the above websites. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Mainly ASUS equipment OS Dual Boot: Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Win 8 Enterprise RTM x64 CPU Intel i7 3930k 3.2 O/C @ 4.2ghz Motherboard Asus P9X79 Deluxe: BIOS 3501 Memory 32Gb DDR3 Dominator GT 1866 MHz - 8 x 4Gb Graphics Card Asus GeForce GTX680 2Gb SLI Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD (SPDIF) Monitor(s) Displays Primary: Asus VK278Q LCD 27", Secondary: Sony 46" HDTV 1080p Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Apple Keyboard USB Mouse Microsoft Explorer PSU Corsair CMPSU-850AX Case Coolermaster Stormtrooper Cooling Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 Hard Drives 1 x OCZ Vertex 4 128Gb SSD (system)

In the recent past, Norton's annual Security Suite update (including their AV software) has been bloatware central -- a humongous, resource-hogging quagmire. However, it appears that Symantec has finally noticed the the defectors from their camp and taken action to attract them back into the fold. The new 2009 version appears to be a complete rework and is a lean, mean, security machine. Highly recommended. Hopefully, they've learned their lesson and the 2010 version will be equally efficient. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number home brew OS Win.7.Ult.x64 CPU Intel Core i7 970 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 Memory 12GB (6x2GB) OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600 Graphics Card Gigabyte GV-R485MC-1GH, ATI 4850, 1GB GDDR3, passive cooler Sound Card (on-board) Speakers - Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Monitor(s) Displays 2x Dell U2410 (H-IPS) Screen Resolution 1920x1200, 1920x1200 Keyboard Das Keyboard Professional, Logitech UltraX Mouse Logitech G400 PSU PCP&C S75QB Case Lian Li PC-V2010B + EX-H34 expansion HD cage Cooling Xigmatek HDT-1283 heatsink & bracket + Scythe S-Flex SFF21E Hard Drives System = Intel 320 160GB SSD --

I was pretty happy on Vista with the latest versions of Norton Internet Security.
However, they were having compatibility issues with 7 and I wasn't really happy with the 2 week beta approach they finally started coming up with so didn't bother.
I've been trying ESET Smart Security v4 recently and am quite happy with it thus far, despite my Norton subscription still ticking down.
Anyway, I currently rely on ESET and may indeed switch to it for the long term, but would prefer not to waste my Norton subscription if they get it fully working with 7. Suppose if they get the 2010 version out before long and don't screw it up that might be a good time to return.
But for the time being with 7, I'd say ESET Smart Security. | My System Specs | | |

Yeah, the beta test for NIS2009 is ridiculously limited by the two week license and activation issues. Instead of people focusing on how the program works there are numerous posts on the forum complaining that the program can't be activated, is expiring imminently, etc. Hopefully they will release a stable Windows 7 compatible version soon since I have a license that's wasting away | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Athlon ii x4 620 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P Memory 4 GB Graphics Card Geforce 9600 512meg Sound Card Xonar DS Hard Drives Hitachi Deskstar 1 tb |

Just to let you know: there is NO best antivirus. It all depends on your choice. For someone it could be Norton, for others Eset and KIS, but none is perfect.
