    Have you read this?

    What's the Best Anti-virus?

As many people have said, what's best right now (this very minute) will depend on whose research data you want to believe. FWIW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essential with Windows 7 firewall and on demand scans with Malwarebytes (free) and HitmanPro (also free). Haven't had any malware.

There is no 'best' antivirus, it all depends on the choice of the user but MSE is a good choice for the average user

Update to version 11.0.2.556b.a, it fixes most of these issues

Absolutely! MSE is a very popular choice around here.

I really don't understand why people keep linking to that topic, as informational as it is, it didn't help me decide what to use. I ended up going with Norton over Kaspersky. MSE/WF is basic security for basic users, that's how I'll always look at it. I prefer Norton AV/Comodo

Because this subject has no answer that fits for everyone, once someone has made up their mind on what works for them, someone else will denounce it because they like theirs better.

It has to be an informed decision by the person who is using it, and that usually takes some roadtesting.

If it works for you, it's the best.....for you.

The best anti virus depends a lot on your browsing habits too. If you go to questionable web sites looking for hacks and such, you're bound to run into something that's going to penetrate your defenses, no matter how good. You can make sure that everything is up to date, have all the protections you want, but in the end, common sense prevails.

ESET Smart Security Been using it for years now ! It's fast light on the system and works wonders. I especially like the detailed firewall activity log.

I have used Kaspersky in the past and found it ok but ESET is my go to for system security. FYI I've also got Malwarebytes installed as a secondary manual scanner whenever I want extra protection. O and I've also got SUPERANTISPYWARE as well as a "manual" scanner. Basically call on it whenever I need it, but I don't have them running in the background as it would cause conflicts with ESET. And finally I've got the Windows Firewall turned off and disabled as I don't need.

Good Luck and experiment use whatever works best for you !

    PS

Some ppl think you should never have to pay for security software, I disagree everyone to their opinion !
