If you don't like any of the AntiVirus listed on the pool, just pick anyone, or post your favorite.
Wow, you dig MSE that much huh? Might try it on weaker builds later. Running McAfee VSE 8.7i right now.
HI Guys
Avast is Great had a few threats which were taken care of with ease by the software, plus it runs in the background with no issues
Well pleased far better than Nortons -
I think AV/FW software is only a small part of keeping your system clean. I don't bank or shop via the internet. I don't download games or media that's been pirated, and when I'm not actively using my internet connection, I disconnect by shutting off the router. All my media, update installers, driver installers, personal files and documents are on a separate partition from the OS and all the applications. It's a matter of about 1 hr to erase the system partition, then reimage from a backup I made shortly after I got everything running smoothly... less time than it takes to do a full AV scan on any previous computer I've owned and when it's done I haven't lost anything. I don't use an antivirus. There isn't one out there that can catch everything, and it's only the malware your AV can't detect that gets through. I'd rather have the resources that would otherwise be used by maintaining an antivirus and firewall available for games and other applications. If I knew how, I would make that an automatic process that happened once a week or so.
I notice the poll didn't include comodo internet security, which is more effective an requires fewer resources than Norton or McAfee, but completely free.. I install it on every computer I sell.
I will refrain from mentioning your username... In todays world protection isnt all about the individual users security, its about everyones security... With the cloud concept of computing becoming more prevalent, the term "We are the internet" takes on more meaning... You owe it to the other users of the net to at least have a basic a/v program up and running... With the specs that you have, you can afford a few hundred K of ram from your WOW session to help the rest of us stay as secure as possible.... /rant
On other people's machines I install Avira and Malwarebyte's.
If they are interested in learning to be really secure without the need to update any blacklists then I install Sandboxie, Returnil (version 2.0.1.9002) and an imaging app.
