    windows firewall question

If i add a new rule in advanced firewall options, that says that adobe photoshop.exe is not allowed to connect to thje internet. Would that stop all files in that program accessing the internet? Or just the .exe file?

    Thanks in Advance

Is this the right forum for Firewall questions?

It may have been slightly more appropriate to put it under networking, but it doesn't seem out of place to be here either.

Generally a setting for the main .exe of a application includes the .dll's and other resources loaded by that application as well.

I can't think of a reason for blocking photoshop unless you're trying to hide a pirated copy though.

    Hi Maguscreed
No I have photoshop elements came with new computer. Just seems to want to access the internet too much.
By the way on that post yesterday, have disabled ZoneAlarm and Kaspersky and so far no BSOD. fingers crossed.

Running two av's is just a bad idea, it doesn't increase security it increases odds of a failure. You should completely remove those two and replace them with microsoft security essentials. It's not the greatest thing ever but it's free and functional.

Back to the photoshop issue, I believe there is a photoshopelements.exe
This would probably be what you want to target in firewall.

What version of kaspersky do you have? Is it internet security? I would keep that over zone alarm. But like others have said, two at once is not a good idea.

Kapersky is fine but I would use the Win7 firewall. MSE or Avast (both free) are comparable and more recommended.

Go through the preferences in Adobe and turn off updaters, then in msconfig>Startup and Services after hiding all MS services. Startup Programs - Change

For example in Reader you have to turn off Updater in General>Preferences or under Updates in newer versions. If you don't uncheck Updates here it will turn them back on in msconfig.
