I have Microsoft Security and Essentials which takes care of everything as far as I know and I think it turns of my Defender but it's been a long time ago so I don't think I need Windows Defender

You're right, it takes care of what Defender used to do, so, it's not needed, but I don't think, in Windows 7, that there's actually a way to get rid of it. It's disabled automatically when MSE is installed.

Defender is only an adware defense product. MSE takes care of adware and malware, so MSE essentially has defender built into it. Yes, MSE automatically disables defender. As long as Defender is disabled and MSE is on, you are very well protected. I am incredibly happy with MSE, it blocked a drive-by trojan once when I was on the web. Plus, it barely uses any resources.
