Computer potentially unprotected MSE
Although I completed a scan 2 hours ago with the latest definitions I still get the subject message.
Although I completed a scan 2 hours ago with the latest definitions I still get the subject message.
May have several meanings.
Real time protection may be off
or
You have to take care of a threat
Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware
Check the settings tab on MSE to see if:
Default actions are set to recommended action
Real Time Protection is on and all boxes checked
Advanced settings to see if everything is checked (the create restore point is your choice)
You may want to clear out any quarantined items. Also, deleting your history may help, although you might want to keep a hard copy of what items were found in the past.
Or you can try reinstalling the definitions manually. D/L & 2X on the file. This will reinstall the entire set of definitions.

Be aware there is always the possibility that a program/virus is interfering with the operation.
Solved-------- Uninstalled the old one. Downloaded and install a new one. Simpler than spending days troubleshooting.
Did it again. Potentially unprotected, Followed all the suggestions on previous posts. Don't want to keep re-installing.
