    MSE disabling Spywareblaster FF Protection?

Can anybody with MSE and Spywareblaster check to see if when you update MSE it disables all FF protection with Spywareblaster or not. I think MSE is doing it but can't be sure yet. Something keeps doing it, and it was never happening before MSE.

I just saw your question Airbot ... updating MSE does not disable SpywareBlaster's protection on my computer. Keep looking for the culpret.

    Hi Jacee,

It's either MCE or Superantispyware I believe. I haven't seen it happen in a few days, but I'm still looking after I update them.

I just updated SAS and that didn't disable anything either.

Do you have something else installed that might be changing your Hosts file?

Well it didn't start happening until I installed MSE/ Superantispyware. I've used Spywareblaster and Superantispyware for a long time, but just recently have been using SAS on 7 because it no longer seems to cause BSODS. Hasn't happened with updating recently, perhaps the behavior was corrected in one of the updates, but will keep an eye out for it, and post if it happens again.

Not necessary, you can just re enable all protection in Spywareblaster. But like I said, it hasn't happened for the last couple of days.

I understood that there was no need to run SpywareBlaster if you were running IE8, which I assume you are as that is installed with Windows 7.

I believe it is to do with Smart Screen Filtering in IE8 and the protection in SpywareBlaster tying each other in knots trying to do the same job.

I could be wrong about this, I've uninstalled SpywareBlaster on my machine now that I'm running IE8, although I'm running Vista not Windows 7 at the moment.

Hi Joan, thanks but yes, I was aware of the Spywareblaster/IE8 thing. I don't really use IE8 all that much, but I haven't had any problems with IE8 and spywareblaster conflicting since I've been using 7 though. Also, it was just with the protection of FF, didn't do any disabling of IE8 protection.

I use IE8 and Spyware Blaster. Spyware Blaster will pop up and let me know if an application is going to add a BHO or change my home page. It's a 'keeper for me'
