how do I get "protected mode on" back. I can't change from off to on. have followed instruction, beginning with double click

at the bottom of my monitor screen..."protected mode off" supposed to keep out virus. but I can't change to "protected mode on" says to double click to reset did that but doesn't work I want to reset it to "protected mode on"

Windows7 Pro 64bit SP-1; Windows XP Pro 32bit

Tools> Internet Options> Security Tab

Then check Enable Protected mode #1 in Snip then click Apply #2.

Close IE which is (requires restarting IE) and then reopen IE. Done.

You need to have UAC enabled for protected mode, incase you disabled UAC.

There is a balloon saying that my computer is not protected by any firewall or anti-virus software. I have anti-virus software on the window 7 side do I need to install something else on here?
