You were right, I spoke before trying it out. It is completely unusable on my system. After reaching desktop, it repeatedly hung completion of booting, and even afterward, it kept the CPU revving at ~50%. I've uninstalled it, and will not try it again. It is a totally different critter than what it has been.

seekermeister, what do you expect from a beta? You could help out by reporting your problem; is that not the point of a beta?

I am using it and find it unobtrusive and complete. With computers today 200mb is a drop in the bucket, and it uses less resources but seems to provide better protection and AUTOMATIC updates. It is still being developed, so I am excited to see where it is going. I have used Spybot S&D for years on end and support it through donations.

Indeed, and seeing as how most modern computers are manufactured with huge HDD (my laptop has 300GB, desktop has 700GB) a mere ~100mb install is nothing and makes Spybot a worthwhile program to have and use.

Reading some of the previous posts here all I can say is,,, Spybot, while not perfect (cause none of them are) is still quite good and way better than Ad-Aware garbage (talk about bloatware).
I really hope it doesn't turn into a Bloated piece of garbage like Ad-Aware. I really don't think it will.
Infact, Spybot is a member of Portable Apps, hopefully he make 2.0 the same.

It is beta, so,if you ignored this info (which is common for any and all things called BETA)

Our team has tested this complete new version thoroughly but there will be some bugs. Remember it is a beta and as such not a replacement for the stable version 1.6.2.
