    KeyGenGuru Virus

My son stupidly when to the site and in his words, it just went off.

I have carried out all the standard checks that windows suggests such as last restore point, auto repair but it is still the same

After some research I have tried both fixmbr and fixboot, and while these did at least get me to a blue screen that was as far as it goes.

I then came across TDSSKILLER, so I popped it onto a CD, the problem is when I run it from advanced recovery options > command prompt

"The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present"

If I cant get this working then I will have to use the last option of emergency backup and reinstall. Its a dell, so I don't even have a startup disk.

Any help would be much appreciated

Try a bootable rescue disk. Several people have reported problems with the Kaspersky Rescue CD, so you might want to try one of the others.

    1. When your system BSODs, write down the STOP error code, as well as any written out error message back here. The STOP error will always appear, but the message may not. You are looking for this:

I managed to get the Kasp startup disk working, it went through found 4 trojans but mainly where my son had downloaded them. I tried restarting but still the same. The BSOD does not specify a filename but does give the error code of ox0000007b

    Just for your info:

    STOP 0x0000007B: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
    Usual causes:
Hard drive, File system, Boot sequence errors, Device driver, Virus infection (in particular check the MBR)
