try the free version of malwarebytes with the infected computer booted in safe mode.
it normally works. :)
and good luck!
Hi, sandman.
I expect you meant 2010 or 2011. Regardless, mickey megabyte is correct about using Malwarebytes Anti-malware. However, note that MBAM is best run in normal mode rather than safe mode. For reference, Bleeping Computer's guide: How to remove XP Security Tool 2010, XP Defender Pro, and Vista Security Tool 2010 (Uninstall Guide).
thanks for the link Corrine.
i'm not exactly sure why i've always ran malwarebytes in safe mode.
i guess i'll have to learn to change my habits. :)
Yesterday when I first worked on it it said 2011 and when leaving i swore it was now saying 2012 we will see what it is when I go back to house to finish up work what version it says thanks for info, malwarebytes is what i usually use to.
Hi, sandman. See the instructions here: Remove Win 7 Antispyware 2012 and Vista Antivirus 2012 name changing rogue (Uninstall Guide). One of the names the rogue uses is "XP Internet Security 2012".
Thanks for the info have checked everything possible going to do a reformat, which is over due for this system. I had another system or even 3 with this same or like virus and the end result was a clean install finally over the coarse of 3-6 months. Thanks for the info.
