The Run, Task Manager and Control Panel are hidden. The system shows virus alert. I have AVG 7 but it does'nt help. It has even stopped my broadband connection. I cannot format my whole system. It has valuable information. Please help.

AVG causes as many problems in win 7 as it solves.

Boot safe mode with networking and install and run this
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free download that removes viruses and malware from your computer

It's definitely malware with the behavior you are describing though
you may also need the .exe fix from here.
Default File Type Associations - Restore

after it's been cleaned out, or possibly even to get malwarebytes up and running.

Hi omarfoley, AVG7 is terribly outdated, so it would not be able to detect advanced malware.

uninstall avg and install kaspersky or avira antivirus. these are the best antivirus and deletes almost all antivirus. install a firewall if you install avira, as its freeware it does not have web online scanner and does not scan internet connection.
kaspersky is the best with all the features. takes less ram and gives more protection to the system. has regular updates, has web scanner, antispyware, self defense and many more features.
