    Galileo NFO request

Any new information about "Galileo System Cleaner"? Not much found on Google, nor does the (somewhat limited) suggestion work, i.e. Malwarebytes. This "issue" is running on a Win 7 Home Prem. system 64 bit, AMD dual core. I've searched this forum but no topics appear, I hope I didn't over look something here.

Welcome to Seven Forums MichaelWR. I did some Googling, and found many asking how to get rid of it, but few answers. This thread contains some success a poster had:

    Galileo System Cleaner Removal

We have some experts who post here, hopefully one will have better suggestions. I'd think you'd want to run a bootable rescue disk to scan outside of windows. A Guy

    Hi Michael,

I agree with A Guy's suggestion : try booting from a rescue disk (I recommend F-Secure) and allowing it to scan your system. Please backup any data prior to this scan, and note the warnings that appear prior to the scan.

There may be a simpler way using something like ComboFix, but you absolutely must be guided through this by a professional, and not attempt it on your own. If one of our security MVP's posts here, they may be able to offer alternate suggestions, or guide you with ComboFix.

    Regards,
    Golden

Thanks for the tips, I've seen that thread 'A Guy', suggested and I've tried Malwarebytes with no luck. Running a scan outside of the OS is a neat trick, I should have thought of that. I work mainly in IT, mainly around 'big iron' but do VERY little desktop support, this machine belongs to a friend. I needed to get rid of the machine, (And the nagging friend :) so I just wiped it and reinstalled. Sometimes things just needs to be fixed, although I wish I could have spent more time with it in a test environment. Also I have heard of ComboFix and should become familiar with it. I understand it is a bit tricky/risky to implement. I see there is a ton of nfo regarding it's use, I should spend some quality time with it soon. As always, thanks to both of you for your replies. ~Michael

Well, if it is particularly nasty, sometimes a clean install isn't only best, it's the only option. Glad we could try and help. Stick around and join in here, newcomers are always welcome. A Guy

Good job - a clean install is certainly a failsafe method.
