ms security essential full scan
MS security essential took more than 4 hours to complete full scan.
MS security essential took more than 4 hours to complete full scan.
Size and speed of your hard drive as well as how full it is one factor in how fast or slow it will scan.
the other factor is your processor speed and amount of ram you have.
A slow computer will take longer to scan than a faster one.
Also MSE is not known to be a fast scanner.
The initial full scan will take longer than subsequent scans, however, as has been mentioned other factors can influence the time to perform the scan.
MSE is performing a very thorough scan. If you are scanning many iso, zip, exe, wim files then the scan will take a longer time than when scanning documents.
Be sure to update your system specs. that info helps us to make better judgements.
Post a copy of your disk management output. Perhaps then we will make some more suggestions.

does snipping tool apply to win7 starter?
Snipping Tool - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows
In the search box, type SNIPPING TOOL
Does snipping tool appear above in the list above the search box.
If it doesn't show up then you can always use MS Paint.
typed snipping tool in search bar....
it does not appear..
so...guess...need to download MS paint then..
Doesn't matter if you do one, two, or three scans, the "full" scan is slow. It's just the way it works on MSE.
Anyway this isn't the first time this issue has been brought up......
Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows 7
And starting here - MSE 2 Final Released!
