    Kaspersky Internet Security 2012

Well then, I finished installing KIS 2012, it hasn't been RTM'd I think just yet but so far it is a GREAT improvement from KIS 2011. In fact, I'm doing a full scan right now and I haven't even noticed that it was even running! My system is currently running at 2.8Ghz.

The system requirements from what I've seen is only a 300Mhz pentium processor and 256MB of RAM, down from a 800Mhz pentium and 512MB RAM.

The interface has been fully redesigned for obvious tablet use, so that's a plus I guess. It's quite great to benefit from software that's designed for tablet use, you get a great overall system performance and little impact on resource too!

    A+ in my opinion!!

I hoped win 7 stability has been improved too. I have seen kapersky cause a few problems in rare instances.
I'll go play with it myself later and see if I can reproduce any of the old problems.

It is literally superb! I actually finished the full scan without messages popping up saying that there is no default mail client when Outlook 2010 had all defaults. I actually watched a bit of an mkv video file and there were no lags whatsoever. I am impressed.

I've been using KIS since 2007 or so, and the 2012 version (12.0.0.374 patches A and B) works great, and has less overhead than KIS 2011. In 2012, hot-fix for patch 'B' fixes URL advisor, anti-banner, and virtual keyboard in Firefox 4 and 5, not 100% in Firefox 6 Beta 1). I also helped to fix a bug in critical area scan where it was hanging if more than one physical HDD was installed, and that is working at patch A now.

The cloud protection is great as well. KIS 2012 appears to be the best product Kaspersky has put out to date (in my opinion).

Patch for hot-fix 'B' on 12.0.0.374 is now released per the beta testing guys at Kaspersky, fixes the URL advisor, anti-banner, and virtual keyboard in Firefox 5 or 5.0.1 (and all previous versions). Other minor and stability fixes also.

been using the new kaspersky for a few days now, and i'm happy to say that i'm liking it quite a lot.

i noticed the old one would spike my cpu quite often - this new one doesn't seem to and uses less ram too. :)

i do have one minor problem with it though - i don't have the im component enabled, as i don't use any of the messaging clients that kis protects, so the home screen keeps telling me that my 'computer security is at risk'. with the old version i could chose to ignore this 'problem' and kis wouldn't bug me about it any more - i can't find that option in kis2012.

i would recomend all current 2011 owners to step into the future and freely upgrade to 2012 - you don't need a new license!

It looks like unfortunately, that ignoring that can't be enabled for some reason. It kind of sucks, but oh well. :)

I tested the new KIS 2012 on my testing PC and it did well only missing 2 viruses. I submitted those to Kaspersky Lab for analysis and there is now protection against those 2 threats missed. I have PURE on my Win7 machine and I see some minor slowdowns from time to time but the new KIS is a BIG improvement! Well done!

    mickey megabyte, Coke Robot!

You can get rid of this message easily.

Turn off Self-defence and exit KIS 2012.

    Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP12\Data
Open file profiles.xml in Notepad (Back up profiles.xml just in case).
    Search for line
    Code:
    <tSTRING name="">IM Monitoring</tSTRING>
Go 10 lines lower and find the following line withing the same block
    Code:
    <tDWORD name="installed">1</tDWORD>
Change 1 to 0, so it would look like
    Code:

    <tSTRING name="">IM Monitoring</tSTRING>
    <tDWORD name="admflags">13</tDWORD>
    <tDWORD name="enabled">0</tDWORD>
    <tDWORD name="origin">1</tDWORD>
    <tDWORD name="persistent">1</tDWORD>
    <tDWORD name="pid">4011</tDWORD>
    <tSTRING name="type">imc</tSTRING>
    <tDWORD name="level">0</tDWORD>
    <tSTRING name="category">APU;WMUF</tSTRING>
    <tDWORD name="iid">23</tDWORD>
    <tDWORD name="installed">0</tDWORD>
Save the file. Load KIS 2012. Voilą
