    windows service cannot be started

end of april this year, i was directed to some codec for wmp. an update or upgrade something or another in order to see some videos. something told me right away that this was prolly unnecessary....since then, action center notifies me that win security center service needs to be started. then of course, "bing...srvce cannot be started...."click shortcut and the mse cp pops up for a sec and then....nothing...same w/ win defender...also google redirects...
    ijdk....
    please help

For starters you need to download and run Malwarebytes, then do an online scan with SUPERantispyware. Once you run those and remove anything that they find, then run a scan with HitMan Pro.

Thank you so much for your time. I can say that my problem seems to be solved. I ran MBAM previously (before my original post) and of course, it picked up a few things. So, after running SAS, everything seemed to get back to normal. I then updated and ran MSE and it picked up 4 java exploits. Do you still suggest running Surfright?

Good to hear it. Yes, I would absolutely run Hitman Pro. Before you scan just uncheck tracking cookies in the settings menu. Let me know what you find!

Sounds like you're clean. Maybe just repeat the MBAM and HMP scans every few days for a couple of weeks to see if any of the signature updates catch anything.
