MSE keeps telling me I haven't scanned in a while

So I just scanned (quick scan) with MSE yesterday, and today it is telling me I haven't scanned in a while.

MSE keeps telling me I haven't scanned in a while-mse.jpg

This happened a couple weeks ago too, so I just uninstalled and reinstalled and thought it fixed it but it's not.

One search suggested the system date and time might be incorrect, mine is showing correct date and time though.

I don't mind doing another uninstall / install but I don't want to make a habit out it.

Any thoughts or settings I can check?

    Hi Derek,

There was a thread about this not too long ago, but I can't quite find it now. It went something along the lines of the OP used CCleaner to remove some registry entries that let MSE know when the last scan was done....or something along those lines. Could that be soemthing you had done recently?

Since its a reinstallation, I imagine those registry entries have been re-created so you wont see that issue again.

I'll keep hunting for the thread, and post a reference here if I find it.

    Regards,
    Golden

Derek - just found this and some commentry at MS site:

CCleaner v3.08.1475 and Microsoft Security Essentials - Piriform Community Forums

"CCleaner v3.08.1475 introduced the MS Antimalware & Windows Defender cleaning options, which are set to true by default.
This is causing MSE logs to reflect that the computer hasn't been scanned.
Cleaning the MSSE logs doesn't have an effect on the program's performance, it just makes the program think it hasnt scanned before"

Seems to be a CCleaner issue. Are you using CCleaner recently?

Good call, I use CCleaner so that's a possibility.

I'll just do a reinstall again and lighten up on the reg clean part of it.

    Thanks Golden.

Ah, good find. It is the cleaner not reg part. I just unchecked the box suggested.

    Thanks again!

Tried to rep you, Golden, but it seems to be too soon since the last one. Consider this a virtual rep.

Yup Derek I use CCleaner too and do not have it do any cleaning of security logs nor registry items of them.
