If you like Norton then look around for rebates and sales. A few weeks ago I got NIS2011 and Norton Utilities for $89.99 with $80 rebate which I received yesterday. Office Depot has deals just about every week on Norton products. When used the keys are good for one year and you get free upgrades to new versions within that year.

Here is a couple free ones that are good.

Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials
MSE is real simple to use with few options and works well.

avast! - Download Free Antivirus software or Internet Security
Avast! has lots more options if you are into more user control.

Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download
Good for on demand scanning (you manually run it when you want) to see if anything was missed by the free guys.

Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) - Introduction
Very good program to check your software that needs security updates.

    Hope this helps.

    prevx is for behavioural detection
spybot is for scaning but i think it also has a behavioural component as well.

Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and highly rated. It's what I use and recommend to all my clients (and they are using it and no problems).

Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes and Internet Explorer 9 have kept my computer clean, and best of all, they're all free.
