It was "only the link to the Panda Cloud AV web site" because I didn't want to post a link to an executable. I figured you could sort through the short list and find the MSE tool. Have a good one

I was only making some suggestions, sorry if you took my reply the wrong way, I apologize! I should have reworded the MSE failed you miserably part, I looked at it again and it sounds a bit too harsh, again my apologies.....but you asked for help then you get all mad at the people trying to help you when they try making suggestions telling them what not to say, you could have just said I already do backups and I like MSE or just ignored my suggestions, You said you found threats, so MSE did fail you, thats why I said "this is why its always better to have a second defense". You said you dont have any restore points so I didn't think you did backups, I didn't say their is an antivirus that is bulletproof, In fact I dont rely on antivirus software to protect me, I depend more on HIPS (Comodo D+ and Sandbox), Sandboxie, Wondershare TimeFreeze, Virtual Machines, Spybot SD Imunization and web filters through 3rd party DNS and PeerBlock.
And If I did find a virus on my machine I would Restore my machine from a backup image I have regardless of the situation for peace of mind so I know their will be no threats hiding out that comodo antivirus, malwarebytes, and superantispyware may have missed. A virus could act like a Trojan and spread like a wild fire. also a virus can damage system files leaving them corrupt which could lead to future problems.
Peace

Hello there.
I have built a new computer where I run Windows 7. I'm planning to use my old computer as a back-up and to run a few applications from time to time. This old one will run Vista as I have a retail version currently used for nothing.
I have already installed Vista but it is not yet Internet connected.
I have downloaded mseinstall.exe and plan to transfer it to the old system and run it there.
Question: Can MSE get installed without having Internet access? I mean, it should be able to, otherwise my computer will be unprotected until the installation is complete which is sort of a Catch 22 situation. But I'm not sure as I think MSE will not install unless it's been confirmed that it's genuine Windows copy and for that you need to be connected.
There is no need for internet to install... After you install the MSE, you will have to download the AV definitions and NIS definitions, found here Install the latest Microsoft Security Essentials definition updates - Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center
