Is 2011 and Im installing a new system whats the best Security Suite?

Ill make this simple have used and like EST Secuirt Suite for 2 years. However I have not been up to date on these things lately so I am asking you what is the best security suite out now?

1. Im an Avid gamer so no slowdowns can be tolerated.
2. windows 7 x64
3. 8 gigs ram
4. Want to be able to choose what comes in and out.
5. dont want ot use windows default anything. Sorry they just plain suck.

Well,my favorite is eset smart security 4.

The version 5 is with gaming mode and more but is still in beta,though you can give it a try

I would say bitdefender. Good security, bonus system tweaks and has a game mode that opens your ports up to allow connections

Wow on the eset page it said it only protected against 59% of the zero day unknown viruses they tested, I'm glad comodo auto sandboxes unknown files that try to run, otherwise that can be disastrous.

Comodo Internet Security stopped 100% of the 50 zero day viruses I threw at it! even with the sandbox disabled.

thanks for the replies I have used ESET for 2 years and I have had some issues in that time so I want to switch I have installed Comodo Internet Security 2011 now if I can just understand how to use it

OK thanks I have a couple of questions I need answered about COMODO. So far it seems pretty good however Im very confused with the Firewall.

What I am looking for is a way to basically have the firewall ask me the first time any application asks for traffic going out or in. In EST this was labeled interactive mode. In Comdo I cant seem to find this.

BY default it seems to say anything sent from inhouse out is ok. I dont' want applications calling out without me approving it. I than found they have a way to do that, however it was a port by port basis so essentially ever time something opened it would ask 1000 times for each port.

I just want ot say ok IE is asking to go out allow? (YES)
Hey traffic is coming in from outside to PLEX is that allowed? (YES)
Hey Adobe Photoshop is trying to send data out (NO)

that kind of thing. Is this possible with Comodo without a degree?

I am not a Comodo or EST user, but all I can say is that Norton Internet Security 2011 is very straightforward, with clear user controls and features; it also has a Silent Mode feature, that way gamers can enjoy their gaming activities; it is also automatically activated when a program like PowerPoint runs in full-screen mode or if the user is burning discs

However, I do not want to nudge this thread into the usual "which is the best antivirus software?" discussion - there's already a thread devoted to that topic.

launch Comodo--go to Firewall tab--select 'Define a new trusted Application'

a box should open with a 'select' button on the right side--clicking on it should open a flyout menu with 3 choices--one of them being 'Running Processes'

launch a program that you want to allow--then in the above mentioned flyout--select 'running processes' --this should open a window called 'Choose a Process'--scroll to the specific running process--click on it to highlight it--then click on the 'select' button at the bottom of the window-then click the 'apply' button.

this should eliminate the constant need to specify allow, deny, etc

you don't need a degree--just go to the 'more' tab--read the help section

Ok thanks, is there a way to just clean everything settings wise (reset all to default and than set this up?. I have been playing with it for a while now and feel like Im just messing things up. Way to confusing.

How to Install Comodo Firewall

I played with Comodo a few times, but always uninstall it, as I find it confusing and annoying and somewhat hard to configure. The Windows firewall is sufficient for me.

Malwarebytes Pro (best $25 I ever spent)
Comodo Antivirus (free version 5.5.xxxxxx)
Windows 7 firewall

on my XP Pro box:
Malwarebytes Pro
Comodo CIS (free version 3.14.xxxx) for antivirus and firewall

I would doubt that Eset was the sole cause of the issues you mention above.
You might consider addressing " these issues" in the appropriate part of this Forum.

FYI - Quite a few Anti Virus programs have been implicated in BSOD's.
The generic advice we give is to uninstall them.....
Norton is one such culprit.

{Disclaimer I don't use Eset & would not use Norton.}

Comodo Internet Security 5 is basically set up for you, but their are some features a user must set to fit their needs, I use the "Comodo Proactive Security" mode, Right click the comodo icon in your hidden icons tray, go to Configuration and select Comodo Proactive Security, another thing you will want to tweak is the Stealth ports wizard, and Firewall Behavior Settings so you can select how you want your firewall to react, you can access these settings under Firewall on the Comodo GUI, all other settings are pretty much self explanatory, or you can read threw the users guide for more of an understanding about what these settings do....

I thought it to be a bit confusing myself when I started using Comodo almost 2 years ago, but they really have improved and simplified things in v5 that were confusing for new users in earlier versions, I would rather learn how to use something I can rely on then continue to use something that can leave me vulnerable to unknown threats!

anyways The Comodo Forums are also full of advice and help to any of your questions regarding Comodo, from users who live and breath Comodo, I would start here in the Guides Section, for a quick reference to many questions new Comodo users may have.

Hi Dorfdad,
Starting with the 2009 products, Norton has been totally overhauled and reprogrammed, resulting in a very new experience ;-) Norton has become very fast and is a powerful but quiet software which runs silently in the background. It has a nice Silent Mode feature if you're a gamer, too.

Many people still have negative memories from the time when Norton was known as a so-called resource hog and used to cause trouble during installations or upgrading to the next version or switching to another antivirus program. I remember that Norton Internet Security 2007 used to slow down my computer and make it heat up whenever it performed a LiveUpdate...Now I've got NIS 2011 it is very light on the computer resources.

This is no longer the case, and you can have a sneak peek at the upcoming Norton 2012 products over here. This is simply my opinion and experience, and the final decision is, of course, up to you

Why not try Panda Cloud AV? ...along with Hitman Pro, MBAM Free with Comodo firewall. That to me is a very light setup. If you don't download random crap from the internet...then your golden.
