Updated last night & while the new GUI looks nice, I have yet to test out it's (improved?)features & functionality.

I installed it today. Had to do a restart to get it to install completely.

Ran a Quick Scan and it took less than 4 minutes. Previous version took 17 minutes for the same Quick Scan.

The Quick Scan found nothing. While I'd like to think my computer is clean I point to my post about it not finding tracking cookies for me going back to the last version. And it still doesn't find them. I know it finds cookies for most users (at least the old version did) so that is concerning to me.

edit: Ran a Full Scan and it has hung up twice. It happens at the same spot, a $RECYCLE.BIN file. The second time I let it run and after about eight minutes it finally got going again. Could that file be that big? If so I should find it and delete it. How though? I think that is a hidden file.

I always run a full scan, and so far have not had any problems, perceived or otherwise with SAS, except for the lack of results now that I am using SAS.5 .

I think it is a little hasty at this point in the evolution of SAS.5 to trash the program, and I am willing to wait to see if the bug reports start to increase to a point where more information is available.

As far as a replacement why not revert back to SAS.4?

This link will lead to FileHippo's SAS.5 page, but to the right you will see a list of older versions you may want to go back to: Download SuperAntiSpyware 5.0.1108 - and Older Versions - FileHippo.com

My Full Scan completed after 55 minutes. And it too found nothing. Not even a tracking cookie. Version 4 would always find a few.

In fact as mentioned when I first used the program six months ago it found as many as 90 tracking cookies in a full scan and 17 in a Quick Scan. Now Version 4 finds none using Quick Scan and 1 or 2 in Full Scan. Version 5 found none in both. Something can't be right.

    As A Guy says here:
    SuperAntiSpyware 5 released

It could be a matter of how the browsers are treating cookies when they close, and SAS.5 is reviewing their Folders after they close.

This is speculation on my part , but maybe SAS.4 kept a running count while the browsers are open, and quarantining them while they are open, then probably re-scanning the browser Folders to make sure that it did not miss anything.

Then a user needs to understand how SAS treats malware. It seems SAS has a Black, and White list:
SUPERAntiSpyware is designed to detect and remove the most harmful spyware, adware, malware, dialer, worm and keylogger components and applications.

If you are using Firefox you can install better privacy which will remove the flash cookies on your system. If you just clear your cookies and you have flash cookies on your system they will just restore those cookies as soon as you open your browser.

I have seen about 5 YouTube tests, and SAS 5 doesn't fair well (that's putting it lightly). I am a big fan of the company and I was a tester for beta 5 and I have a lifetime license for SAS, but I will not install this on any of my production machines until I see some major improvement.

I know YouTube tests are not the holy grail, but after seeing 5 videos all with the same result, one can't help but draw conclusions.

Ccleaner lower left Wipe free space will clean $Recycle Bin and still leave restore points. It will take a long time. All the things that you think you have removed go to the $Recycle Bin and when needed will be wrote over.
