For a long time I ran without protection outside of noscript in my browser, later I started using mse and scanning with mbam once in awhile I still never find anything, nothing ever needs to be blocked and I have no problems with viruses.

Most my experience on the subject basically shows me that people that get viruses will continue to manage to do so regardless of the amount of protection you give them as they will get impatient and just start clicking whatever they need to in order to keep going without even reading message prompts.

At any rate, I quit using norton/symantec products personally when I quit using DOS.
They once cost me nearly 10k in lost work and data (destroyed primary and backup disks somehow) it took nearly a month to rebuild everything, and when I reported the problem to them they had a lawyer contact and threaten me...

Good luck with norton I'd just as soon do without.

I use NIS 2011 and haven't faced any problems yet.No BSODs or system slow down or hang ups and it runs silently in background without eating up resources. That's just my opinion.

    Baxxter,

You are asking for opinion here, and you will get a diverse response. The "best" for you will be the one that suites your needs. Visit the Kaspersky and Norton sites to read up on the features they offer, and see which one ticks all the boxes for you.

You could also try each one on a trial basis, and see how they run.

    Regards,

This is a question for the Kaspersky forums - you won't find the answer here.

..and to make one thing perfectly clear, nothing, absolutely nothing is unhackable.
Such a thing does not exist.
Generally the few actual hackers out there with the skill to do anything but exploit stuff other people figured out, have much more interesting targets than your little home pc.

I highly doubt it. Kaspersky does a pretty good job of not allowing the user to kill the service component of it unless if they manually exit out of it through the systray icon.
