    AVG free edition issue.

    Hi to you all.
I would like to share with you this unpleasant event that made me very sad.
My U.S.B. stick (I believe you might call it flash drive) got infected by trojan.
AVG offered to get rid of the infection so I accepted and "kaboem" 4 of my folders was gone!
I have no idea where to look for these folders.
One of them has a couple of pictures on it.
Two of my other U.S.B. sticks also got infected.
I am afraid to use them on my computer.
I don't want to infect my computer.
And now I don't want to lose stuff that I have on them.
Is there anything I can do??
    I certainly hope so.
Thanks if anyone are willing to assist me.

Hmm, interesting, I've heard of viruses damaging pictures before, but not an anti-virus deleting them. Are they gone gone? Like it actually deleted files off the flash drive?

With the other two drives, I'd definitely scan them. I would disable autorun in Windows just in case. Then, I'd make a backup copy of all the files on those drives onto the hard drive, then scan those files and see what comes up.

USB sticks,Flash Drives generally become infected if shared with others. Never a good idea.

BTW AVG was not responsible for deleting stuff from your computer.
The hand that controlled the mouse was responsible.... I suspect it was yours!
Tis a far better idea to do some research on any problem presenting before acting in haste & deleting.

    Look in AVG's quarantine area.

I heard that IOBit Advanced System Care 4 can restore permanently deleted files. And also you should check the quarantine folder of your AV.

    Off topic but.....
    Anything that claims it
has a one-click approach to help protect, repair, clean, and optimize your PC.
has to be treated with CAUTION.

No registry cleaner is completely safe {in inexperienced hands}and the potential is ever present to cause more problems than they claim to fix.

    THEREFORE

If you do not have knowledge of the registry, then you would probably be better off leaving it alone, and definitely not placing blind trust in a program to do the job for you.

I personally trust software provided by IOBit. As I have IOBit's Game Booster, Advanced System Care 4 and Malware Fighter.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Well, I can see the four folders quietly sitting in the virus vault.
But how to get them out? Should I get them out. They are still infected right.
