Windows 7 - WinPatrol won't delete burstnet tracking cookies

WinPatrol won't delete burstnet tracking cookies

WinPatrol won't delete burstnet tracking cookies. I click then press "Delete Checked" Button but BurstMedia is still there.

I can delete the whole cookie file but I'd rather not have to manually log in to LastPass.
I have the latest WinPatrol Plus but it won't delete the damn cookie!!

edit: OK blocking 3rd party cookies hopefully will minimize the nuisance.

Hi Miles,

I'm not sure if this will help, but if I'm not mistaken, Corinne provides some level of support for WinPatrol on her website - google for SecurityGarden.

Regards,
Golden

Thanks. I circumvented it by deleting all cookies, then adding burstnset and some other filters to WinPatrol. Seems to be okay now.

edit: btw I found Corinne WinPatrol related stuff. Thanks for the heads up.

Hmmmmmmmmm, now I'm starting to remember why I got out of the habit of adding cookie filters. No matter how many I add, new names are used to bypass the filter. I hate going around the same oval track. (sigh)

Thanks, Golden. Yes, I do include WinPatrol in blog posts. We also have an "unofficial", but sanctioned by Bill Pytlovany, WinPatrol forum at LandzDown.

Hi, MilesAhead.

I think when Bill Pytlovany releases the update, it will make a difference. Until then, I'd hold off attempting to deal with cookies in WinPatrol. I believe you already saw this: Microsoft Update Impacts WinPatrol Cookie Monitoring.

Right. I haven't really explored any of the "private browsing" settings in any of my browsers. What I did find was I could set Chromium to accept local cookies, log in to LastPass, then log in to sites I visit the most. Close Chromium to save the cookies. Then change the setting to Accept Local Cookies - Session Only. That saves me from manually logging in to LastPass and the sites in my Speed Dial. Now and then I've used ChromiumCookiesView to check if any tracking cookies have gotten in. Seems to work well.

For Firefox I can set LastPass to log in on start without a cookie. I just set it to delete all cookies on close. With Opera, delete new cookies on close. Seems to work fairly well. Trouble with filters is they must have a way to read the filter and change the cookie name to get around it.

Actually, I think WinPatrol users need to thank you for the suggestions.
