If you went through all of that & no fix was found, it might be good to just reinstall the OS. If it's that bad, even if something does come along to fix it, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to trust the PC to be safe since viruses/malware leave bits of themselves..

If you do want to try to clean it, Norton offers an online scan for free, you will need to be using IE to run it:

    Hi,

I tend to agree with Borg....in many cases like these, a clean install is the best technique if you are having so much trouble.

You didn't give any details as to what Dell and Microsoft tried on your computer, so its hard for us to give any advice you might not have tried. Please include more detail about software you used to try and fix the problem.

    Did you try this:

If you suspect Java, then completely uninstall it and then reinstall it from scratch. Better still follow this tutorial:

    Hi,

I think you are better off starting with a single item and working your way thorugh it methodically. You also need to answer the questions asked earlier:

    1. What anti-virus software did you try?
    2. What did Dell and Microsoft try?

    also

    3. What is the source of your Windows 7 installation?

Run the Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper as posted above.

Loading Unix or anything else is going to complicate the issue further, and not neccessarily solve the problem.

    Mmm.

So, just to confirm : you have reinstalled Windows 7 after a full format, and you still have suspcious behaviour?

A few more questions that need detailed answers:

    1. What is the source of your Windows 7 installation DVD and the .ISO on the thumb drive? From which media did you install Windows 7?

    2. After you installed Windows 7, can you give a complete list of other software you installed?

    2. Earlier you mentioned a thumb drive - have you also scanned ALL other removable media (e.g. thumb drives and USB drives) that you would have plugged into the computer when you did the reinstallation?

Let's see if Eset shows anything unusual...

    1. Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
      ESET OnlineScan
    2. Click the button.
    3. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
      1. Click on to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
      2. Double click on the icon on your desktop.
    4. Check
    5. Click the button.
    6. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
    7. Check
    8. Push the Start button.
    9. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
    10. When the scan completes, push
    11. Push , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
    12. Push the button.
    13. Push
