    Hi, iman129080. Welcome to SevenForums.

I have some questions for you that may help determine the nature of the problem.

    1) Did you have ESET NOD32, version 4 installed prior to installing version 5? If so, did you install version 5 over the top or uninstall the previous version first.

    2) If you did not have ESET NOD32 installed prior to installing version 5, what antivirus were you using and did you uninstall it completely (including a restart) prior to installing version 5?

    3) Was your computer clean/uninfected prior to installing ESET NOD32, version 5 or did you install it to attempt cleanup of an infection?

    4) What other security software (including Firewall) are you using?

    5) Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?

    6) What steps, if any, have you tried on your own to resolve the problem? For example: Does the problem occur if you boot to Safe Mode? Did you try "Last Known Good Configuration"?

    Hi, iman129080.

Thank you for responding to all my questions.

Please download a new copy of version 5 prior to removing, being careful to get the correct 32-bit version.

Next, follow the instructions provided at How do I uninstall or reinstall ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus? (4.x) - ESET Knowledgebase to uninstall the copy of version 5 on your computer.

Make sure you shutdown/restart the computer before installing the newly downloaded version 5.

Hi, iman129080. You are very welcome.

I don't know that upgrading the operating system will help, although perhaps you are referring to a repair install rather than "upgrade".

You may want to get assistance from ESET Support. Go to http://www.eset.eu/support and click the option under the heading, "When you can’t find an answer, please contact us." In the description section, you can add a link to this topic to show them what you have already tried to resolve the problem.

    @man129080:

You mentioned that you "uninstalled" version 4 of ESET...you did not say whether or not you used a special removal tool that ESET offers for removal of the product. Many times, I would say MOST times it is simply not sufficient to "uninstall" security suites or related progams, you must also use a product specific dedicated "removal tool" that is designed to make sure ALL remnants or hooks (registry keys, ect) are completely wiped from your OS. If they are not completely removed it almost always interferes with a new product, in this case even the upgrade to a new version.

Try using ESETs removal tool then try installing ver 5. Get back to us.

    Hi Say4Extibo!

The problem could be from the protocol filtering feature. Kindly read and follow instructions carefully.

    1. Open the main program window by double-clicking the ESET icon next to the system clock or by clicking Start > All Programs > ESET > ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

    2. Press the F5 key on your keyboard to display the Advanced setup window.

    3. In the Advanced Setup tree to the left, expand Web and email, click Protocol filtering and select Applications marked as web browsers and email clients.

    4. In the Advanced Setup tree, click expand Protocol filtering > Web and email clients and click Excluded applications. Make sure that only the applications you want scanned are selected. Typically, only web browsers and email clients (iexplorer.exe, firefox.exe, outlook.exe, etc.) need to be selected. As to your case, select chrome.exe, Steam and Windows Live executables.

    5. Click OK to save your changes

I see. So does that means that I will have to sellect every .exe that requires internet connection so that it will be able to work?
