You can try the Repair Install first but I'd still back up everything externally.

Look over these steps to get a Perfect Reinstall.

One other option you can try prior to the Repair Install is to Submit a support case online for Microsoft Security Essentials. Select "Installation fails" > your country > E-mail Support.

Microsoft Security Essentials refuse to open!
Hi, When i'm clicking on the MSE icon, a windows pop-up and disappear automatically. I try to restart then my cpu ask me if I want to allow web component/"messenger.exe" (??). What should a do? Try to reinstall MSE, download a new Spyware, or ???. I hope i've been clear... Thank you for helping.
