These files can't be opened. Your internet security(No solution works)

I have tried every solution possible. None of them work for me because :-
1. I tried to Create a New User account. I click on "Manage User Account", nothing happens.
2. I tried resetting,setting every option on local intranet and internet. None of them work ultimately.
3. After downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, the problem won't let me get to installation only. So can't scan for viruses.
4. In many places I have seen instructions to delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6} key in order to fix this issue but it is not showing up in my registry at all. Also, I am not able to use regedit,gepdit or mmc as even that brings up the same error.
5. System Restore too is not accessible due to the same error.
6. I can't access the group policy management editor either due to the same problem.

Please help me out. This is very frustrating.

Hello tanuj20 and welcome to Seven Forums. Sorry you're having these issues.

Are you able to start your computer in Safe Mode? If yes, see if you can install, update, and run a full Malwarebytes scan. It sounds like malware may have taken over your computer for so many things not to work at the same time.

Which files are you not able to open? It's possible you no longer have ownership rights due to damaged or corrupt system files. You could try running a System File Checker scan. If any problems are noted run the scan two more times, rebooting between each scan.

If you're still having issues you could try to take ownership of a problem file using this shortcut here. Do not try to take ownership of the entire C: drive. It will also help if you post your system specs as well as any specific error messages and/or error codes you receive. I'd also suggest not trying to change things in the registry without first knowing for sure what you're dealing with and making a backup.

I installed Malwarebytes through safe mode and scanned my C and D drive. After scanning I got this ;

This specifically shows that my problem was actually a malware related problem. So after this I went back to the normal mode,but the problem was still there. I realized that this might be due to the presence of a software that I downloaded in the morning after the installation of which, promptly all hell broke loose. So now I went back to safe mode,uninstalled the software and deleted the setup file and am running the malwarebyte scan again. I hope after this the problem is solved.
I'll post again if the problem is solved and yes obviously if its not solved..

Sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Something to keep in mind is no antimalware tool is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a program we'd all be using it and every other company would be out of business!

Try running the Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper. Follow the instructions exactly, especially creating the correct version. (If the infected computer is 32-bit you must create a 32-bit system sweeper. If the infected computer is 64-bit, create a 64-bit sweeper.) More info at this site:

I'd personally create the bootable CD or USB on another machine. You already know your primary machine had some infections. There may be more. If so, and if you use the infected machine to create the bootable media, the infection(s) could piggy-back onto system sweeper and keep it from running properly. If system sweeper comes back clean we can try some other steps to get your machine back up and running.

Scanning and removing the infections and uninstalling and deleting the file responsible for releasing the malware in SAFE MODE seems to have worked wonderfully. Everything is running perfectly now. Thanks a lot marsmimar and sevenforums..
Though, should I still run Standalone System Sweeper?

You don't have to run a standalone sweeper, but when it comes to the myriad of viruses out there/being developed, it sure doesn't hurt to take advantage of any extra protection you can get.

I agree completely with this. I'd keep Malwarebytes on your machine. Whenever you think about it, update the database and run the quick scan. It'll probably take just a few minutes. If it finds anything your primary security suite missed, run the full scan. And here are a few more free tools you can keep in mind.

Norton Power Eraser - a very powerful scanning tool that could flag legitimate programs as possible malware. Use with caution.

SuperAntispyware Free Edition - similar to Malwarebytes but each may catch something the other missed. (Remember - no tool is 100% effective 100% of the time.)

Hitman Pro - uses several different malware search engines.

There are many more free scanning tools out there but I think if you ran each of the above along with your primary security suite and Malwarebytes, and if they all come back clean, then you've probably got a clean machine.
