Avast Free Antivirus 6 - Scheduled Scan

    Hi,

I've used many free antivirus programs in the past such as AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials. In these I've been able to setup a scheduled scan to run once a week.

However, since installing Avast 6 Free I can't seem to be able to find that option. How do I setup the scheduled scan in Avast 6?

    Thanks for your help!

If I set the schedule to a time such as 3AM, will Avast start the scan as soon as I turn on the computer if I miss the schedule?

While I'm not 100% sure (99.9%) I don't think avast! will do that. I believe it just waits until the next scheduled scan.

    Thanks for your help,

So I will have to set it to a time when I'm sure I always have the computer on then. I'm sure that AVG Free 2011 used to do this for me.

You are welcome. I don't use scheduled scans for just the reason you described. Once a week I usually find a time that I can hit the full scan and walk away from the machine for a while. I think you'll find avast! light on the system, and very robust against malware.

I think that that would probably be a good idea. I've emailed Avast asking them to confirm that if I miss the schedule I have to wait until the next schedule and will post their response when I get one.

I can confirm that you are right, and that avast won't catch up on the next boot if you miss the scheduled scan.
