Is anyone familiar with services provided by thetechcare.com site?

They called me and had me check my event log which had a ton of error and warning messages however my computer is running fine. I have mcaffee virus, malware, spyware protection and as I said no problems. Is this company legit and can they provide added protection above and beyond mcaffee? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I'd be very wary of any company that called me out of the blue and even more wary of any that offer to "protect" your computer.

The fact that Event Viewer shows errors is normal and nothing to worry about if your computer is running OK.

If you get a cold call of this nature, do as I do: leave the phone connected and go and have a cup of coffee. After being left on hold they won't call you again.

As for looking after your computer, you are the best one to do that, all these people are after is your hard-earned money.

Be very wary of this, sounds like Team Viewer scam. Teamviewer scam - beware
Thread has some witty solutions too. Aslo thetechcare.com has no hits on Google.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback! I suspected as much, just thought I would ask! This forum is invaluble, and research is everything. Thanks again!

    You're very welcome.

It does no harm to check these things out.

We solve about a problem per week here by having users uninstall MucAfee and install the most recommended free lightweight AV's Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast 6.

Most of us recommend these as well as Malwarebytes free on-demand scanner or paid real-time protection, SuperAntiSpyware, with the Win7 firewall.
