need some info on virus removal

when you take it to a store to remove a virus what and how do they do it ?
do they use a antivirus program to scan the pc and remove the virus ?
do they reinstall windows with a used or new windows install disk ?
im thinking of posting on craigslist that i could do this for people
i have not had a virus i couldn't deal with myself and havent had one for a long time but if i get 1 that thinks its tough ill reinstall windows and done
i got room on my softmodded xbox so i keep alot of stuff on that as well as my 2tb usb hdd
i could backup their stuff and reinstall windows as well i got a install disk for windows 7 as well as a xp pro 1,win7 home premium upgrade and a xp home cd that i got the key from a trashed desktop but it works on my desktop and my old desktop and it use to work on my laptop
what all is needed to remove virus's from others pc

I guess that if you told them to format your pc they will install Windows again,and will delete your data on hdd.
If you like to remove some virus, they will try to clean/delete/quarantine them with some Antivirus/ Antimalware software.

but when it comes to cleaning the registry of someones pc i dont think i should because i dont want to mess up anything
haven't messed with mine to much in all the years ive been messing with pc's
so i need to learn more about cleaning the registry for right now but will be able to do so soon enough

For that, if you want to play with registres, first you need to create a backup.

Yeah Stalker I suppose you could even clone the drive - just in case then play with clone instead of the original.

Plus use the usual cleaners / detects Kaspersky TDSS GMER Dr WebCureit etc and if you find anything sus then download the results to AV comparatives eh?

this is not for my pc for as im thinking my pc is clean no virus's detected im using avast! Pro Antivirus
as well as Trojan Remover
windows defender also says its fine im thinking all i need to do is update it the defender
im just looking into fixing pcs for others to make some money on the side

Hum yeah bigdog I do it for free for friends and anyone who wants as I just love doing it and it keeps my little bit of grey matter intact

I don't have many or any time restrictions as a rule and so was thinking well a clone would at least get you out of trouble should you really trash the original install. All you would need to do - I am assuming here - is that one could set the clone to the boot drive and just clone back to the internal or indeed use a second internal to do likewise. I think using EaseUS one can pick the source and destination drives at will anyway and using the cleaned up clone would just overwrite the original.

But I stand to be corrected of course.
I was just trying to use a little lateral thinking to be honest - bit of a fiddler at heart
