Is it a Facebook phishing attempt or a legitimate letter? I checked my Gmail spam box and saw a red flagged email originating from facebookmail.com and it had all this seemingly random gibberish of letters and plus signs int he address. It was telling me I had a friend request. I clicked the link and it did take me to facebook.com but I did not login.
I opened another window and logged into facebook and did notice I had a new friend request. This is a false positive? Or did I make a mistake somewhere down the line and mark legit facebook mail as spam?
or does this mean my friends account may have been compromised? | My System Specs |

in general, can you give me any tips for telling the difference? Like, for example, if a link takes me to facebook.com then I don't need to worry right? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sager NP2096 OS 7 Ultimate 64 bit Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 @ 2.53GHz (lower wattage chip) Motherboard JHL 90 (U2E1) Memory 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR 2 @ 398MHz (5-5-5-18) Graphics Card 512MB GeForce 9600M GT Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard generic Mouse Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 Cooling nature Hard Drives Hitachi 244GB @ 7200rpm (IDE) Internet Speed 30 megabits down, 5 megabits up Other Info 1.)Staples 4-Port USB 2.0 Mobile Hub

Hi RoldoDman/JL,
if you are concerned about having a virus on Facebook, I recommend you get this Application for your Facebook, it will give it more protection: Bitdefender Safego on Facebook | Facebook
If you are concerned about Spam/Virus, just block the sender and Mark as Spam with an Anti-virus software (I use Kaspersky for this).
Please let me know which e-mail client you use, ex. hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.
Also please post an example of one of those emails.
Cheers Joe. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number iRush Pro OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core i5 2500K Processor Motherboard Intel H67 Chipset Motherboard (Micro ATX) Memory 2x4GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory Graphics Card Novatech Radeon 6770 1GB Graphics Card Keyboard Novatech Wired Keyboard Mouse Novatech Wired Mouse PSU Novatech 500W Case Novatech ATX Gaming Case Cooling - Hard Drives 1TB Internet Speed VirginMedia 10MB/s |
