    Eventually the plug may not work. Wear it out from plugging/unplugging.

    My wired router/modem has an on/off switch on the back so.....I can just turn it off.
    No power no internet connection.

    Precisely correct. Clicking the red X will many times just say "OK infect my computer" The ALT+F4 bypasses that. Repeated presses wil close each open window in order until all close.
