My point was not about the updating engine or methodology - My point was to separate it entirely from the Windows Update so I don't get a notification while M$SE is already updating.
Whatever it uses, fine - but dual notifications it, right now, a PITA.
Hello Alex,I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0 since the day it was officially launched (Connect Beta Tester). I have been getting maybe 3 to 5 Updates daily if I manually checked for them but the updates would always be 5 hours behind from the time I checked for them to show up on Windows Update or through MSE Update mechanisms. The last Definitions Update I have received was on August 7th at 4:46PM (1.63.1134.0)...after that? NOTHING a whole day with NO updates and it is 1:02AM here now where a new Midnight Update is usually expected but still nothing. Is Microsoft readying the Release Candidate for MSE or something? I check Connect and I still get the Beta download.
What is the timeline for MSE anyway? June 2009 for Beta>RC?>RTM?
As a beta tester, you should also report this to Microsoft at the link below so that they will be aware of it and can get it fixed. :)
