All my PCs (5 desktop PCs and one laptop) use
Symantec - AntiVirus, Anti-Spyware, Endpoint Security, Backup, Storage Solutions Norton AntiVirus,
Home Computer Security - Kaspersky Lab United States Kaspersky Internet Security
and Delete cookies, history, cache and Index.dat files with Mil Shield 7.2 Mil Shield.

These products cover completely my requirements, and I think not only my requirements for computer security and privacy and if you want safety.

    cheers,

The latest version of Avast ( have had no problems with this )
Some other great programs I have used on clients comps when things get messy are:
Security task manager, Hijack this, autoruns, and unlocker ( for deleting pesky viruses)

Those three programs together are great for locating sophisticated viruses that your scanner may not pick up.

    Probably not.
FWIW - Have you UAC on?
    Have you a router firewall?
