    Hi IggyAZ

If McAfee works for you then continue to use it. As you are using antivirus software to protect your pc i would recommend that you uninstall McAfee and install a different antivirus every few months and perform a full system scan, then uninstall it and go back to McAfee if that is what you like to use.

This way you can check if McAfee is really protecting your PC and remove any nasties its missed as no antivirus software is 100%.

I just read most of the messages here and you and I seem to be the only ones using McAfee Suite. I have tried most of the most popular ones but seems to me that McAfee is lighter and protects me 100% and I have been using it for about a year.
I also leave my UAC ON but no router here.
    Yeah, I noticed it aswell.
But I still believe on McAfee, and Think it's better then most free AVs.
According to AV-comparatives it has great Detection and Malware removal rate.
But it is slightly worse on proactive defence, but there helps my defencewall.

    So proactive defence Defencewall;
Detection and removal McAfee with Malwarebytes AM.

But still we can check it as stew2 said.
Or doing online AV scans like ESSET online or Kaspersky online every month or so.
So far Mcafee does his job for me. :)

I use Avast Anti-Virus Free Edition and Comodo Free Firewall. I also have CCleaner and Malwarebyte Anti-Malware installed. In previous XP installs I use to run Spybot Search and Destroy also but decided not to in my Windows 7 setup, as it would be too much imo (make computer run slower).

I am also using that. Works just fine... But seriously, the true security is your knowledge.

Without that, you'd get billions of attacks each day!

    I use:
Microsoft Security Essentials (I have no CoH for proprietary AV solutions)
    Spybot Search & Destroy
UAC (which I never turn off; I can deal with a few popups better than I can with 300 viruses)
FireFox 3.5 and all its latest security plugins
    my brain

Most malware can be stopped with just a little common sense - don't go to risky websites, examine & scan downloaded files before opening them, watch for hidden executables, etc. I've never had a virus in twelve years of computing and I don't intend to start.
