No access to folder in external drive

    Hi all.

I'm new here. Glad to be here.

I have an external hard drive I used to have as a secondiary internal drive on an older pc. On it, there's a lot of photos and music files.

I need to access them now from my laptop. The hard drive is now an external drive on a Logilink. It runs otherwise smotthly, but I don't have access to certain folders. The folders I need to use have no password protection (I haven't made any,, at least) and are not hidden.

I try to accces them i Windows Explorer: Pictures, Music directly and via the user folders. No access from any users. I have not used any loginsor passwords on my old pc or laptop.

In W.Expl: There's a "shortcut" symbol on the folder icon, and on other folders on the drive there's a lock symbol on their folder icon. No acces to any of them.

When i right-click and try to change access right, it tells me that the folder can not be shared.

How Can I gain access to my folders?

    Please help.

    Best regards.

    Y.

    Tahx, H.D.

Does not compute. Still no access to those particular folders (docs, pix, music - Dokumenter, Billeder, Musik, as they are called in Danish).

What do you mean by 'does not compute?' 'Take ownership' in stalled but did not work? Or you could not get 'take ownership' installed at all?

Sorry, I was not precise. I installed the program, it worked alright. Seems that I got access to some folders on the external drive, but not the three "important ones". They still don't allow me to gain access. These folders all have icons with a little shortcut symbol on them.

If the folders haves a shortcut arrow on them then they are not the folders with the files. They are only shortcuts. If you right click on a folder it might give you a hint of where the actual folders & the files contained in them are located.
