    SUPERAntiSpyware found an attack, Malwarebytes too

    Up until last night, I was running Vipre Internet Security 2012. This morning, I got rid of that program due to problems it was causing. My solution to that problem posed in Vipre Internet Security 2012 Causes Whole System to Hang only worked some of the time, and I was tired of my system being unresponsive for between 15 and 53 minutes.

    I now am using Savior's security setup described in Good and Free system security combination.

    SUPERAntiSpyware found PotentiallyUnwanted.SoftonicDownloader.Process as did Malwarebytes.

    C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\f_00054b (PUP.BundleOffer.Downloader.S) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

    I'm guessing I should change all online passwords after removing this? What other security steps should I take?

    I don't think you need to change your passwords for this ... but it is a good idea to change them every so often

    Thanks Jacee. I change them 3-4 times a year anyway. Might as well do it now just in case.

    I would consider that a false positive, writh

    superanti and malware both very good scanning programs post-infection
    I personally do not care for superanti's realtime protection.
    for those poor wretched souls who insist on using IEn I unequivocally reco spywareblaster - its not a cure-all but sure seriously cuts the risk. simply closes a lot of the doors
