    Is this enough protection?

I currently use Windows Defender and Avast Free along with Windows firewall. I have a computer with Windows 7 - 64 bit. I was thinking of using something that doesn't need to ask if things are OK to use. So, I was thinking of just using Security Essentials and Windows Firewall. Is this enough protection?

Microsoft Security Essentials is recommended and used by many here.
It will also disable Windows Defender because MSE does it's job if not better.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a great on demand scanner to run weekly or so.
It's free, when installing don't click on Trial version.

It's even better to Create an Image Backup when/if something goes wrong.

    donnyb,

    Suggestions.
    > MSE
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

    > Malwarebytes free
Malwarebytes : Download free malware, virus and spyware tools to get your computer back in shape!

    > SpywareBlaster free
SpywareBlaster® | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download.

    > Windows inbuilt firewall

    > A good router / firewall.

    > Make sure you update regularly.
    Scan regularly too.

    > No firewall can protect you absolutely if you don't surf sensibly staying away from sites known to cause problems.
You are advised to exercise caution with what you click on.
Don’t engage in activities such as file sharing, warez cracks, adult content, online gambling or other high-risk behaviors.

The obvious one of course is the responsibilty of the person clicking the mouse.
Exercise that responsibilty - Resist temptation!

Make sure you regularly check for Windows Updates.

Anything is good enough if you are careful and have plenty of images.

Thanks for the suggestions. Of course I do use Acronis back up software with an external drive kept on-site and a second backup drive kept off-site.
