Access Denied for Documents & Settings folder

Despite logged in with Administrator privileges, I can not access this folder. Any reasons. Try to change the Access right for this, but can not change.

Where else should I look?

Thanks. Problem solved. The problem is the shortcut ownership, but not the real folder's.

...Hipster...seriously? SERIOUSLY?!

There is no reason someone needs to take ownership of "Documents and Settings" or change permissions on it. YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS! All one needs to do is go to "C:\Users" that is all. You do not need access to "Documents and Settings" it is a Junction for the "Users" directory.

And yes, this is my pet peeve. Its been know since Windows Vista, yet people are still giving bad advice concerning this. Oooo just take ownership of it...No.

I'm a dad trying to organize my new Win 7 Home Premium install for a large family. How do you put a shortcut on all Users desktops? In XP you went
Documents and Settings/All Users/Desktop. In Win 7 do you have to do each user indivudually?

Welcome to the Seven Forums Aussie2031.

The folder that you are interested in might be hidden:
Hidden Files and Folders - Show or Hide

Any shortcut, file or folder that you place in this folder...
C:\Users\Public\Desktop
...should* appear for every user of the computer.

*The exception would be files/folders that are set to be hidden. Once you "hide hidden files/folders" again, then nobody should see hidden files/folders no matter what folder they are in.
