I just checked my CCleaner settings. Under applications/Windows, "MS Anti Malware" is NOT checked.
So I assume any MSE logs are not altered or deleted.
I'll continue to monitor this. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

The problem could be as simple as cleaning the log files MSE uses. +1. We had a few threads here last year about this. If I recall correctly, some default setting on CCleaner cleans out the log files causing MSE to think that no scans have been undertaken. The solution was to untick one of these options....unfortunately I don't recall the exact one, but a quick search should find the thread. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Golden Mk. Try this tool: Windows Installer CleanUp
It fixed a problem for me in the past.
Select Microsoft Security Client and click Remove then Clear All. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core i5 2500k at 3.3 GhZ Memory 2x4GB DDR3 1333Hz Graphics Card Ati Radeon 6770 Sound Card Speakers Monitor(s) Displays 1x 15" HD 572 Screen Resolution 1024x768 Keyboard Wired Keyboard Mouse Wired Mouse PSU 500W Cooling 3x Fans Hard Drives 2x500GB Internet Speed 10MB/s Other Info Netbook: Dell Inspiron Mini |

Infinite, see my initial post, I already did that.
Security Essentials Version: 2.1.1116.0
Right now it's orange and saying I need to do a scan. Last scan: 1/27/12 at 3:27 PM (Quick Scan)
Where is/are MSE log files? I run CCleaner every night before I shutdown and maybe it is clearing the log, but MSE does know it ran yesterday but it's still saying I need to run it again.
I have not done a full scan in a long time. I'll give that a try and see what happens.
Thanks all. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Precision 370 OS Windows 7 Pro X64 CPU Intel Pentium 4 Dual LP 3.4Ghz Memory 4GB DDR PC2-5200 ECC Graphics Card NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400/4400 Sound Card SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP 22" w2207 LCD Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Hard Drives 300GB Maxtor 6L300RD PATA

If you do not have Hidden Files, and Folders set to show you need to do that first. Hidden Files and Folders - Show or Hide, you only need to use option one, and go to step 2.
Then you can find C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Support Don't forget to reset the hidden feature when done.
siramic's post here: How can you check the details of your last virus scan? - Microsoft Answers fifth one down, explains how it can also be found in Event Viewer, but it is not as detailed. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway DX4831e (Mid-Tower Desktop) OS Win 7 Home Premium 64bit Ver 6.1.7600 Build 7601 - SP1 CPU Intel i3 530 2.93GHz, 2933MHz 2 Cores 4 Logical Processors Motherboard Gateway H57M01 133 megahertz Memory 6GB of 1,333MHz DDR3 SDRAM Graphics Card 32MB Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD IGChip Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Gateway HX2000 20inch TFT active matrix TN Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 x 59 hertz Keyboard MS 'Natural' Standard PS/2 Enhanced 101-102 Key Mouse Gateway USB wired optical PSU 300watts. Have you done this? ... in the Settings tab, choose Scheduled scan in the left pane and uncheck the box "Start the scheduled scan only when my computer is on but not in use."

Ji Hacee. Yes, I have "Start the scheduled scan only when my computer is on but not in use" unchecked. Thanks for the link. I just unchecked MS Antimalware and MS Management Console in CCleaner Applictions tab. Will see if that helps, sounds like a real possibility. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Precision 370 OS Windows 7 Pro X64 CPU Intel Pentium 4 Dual LP 3.4Ghz Memory 4GB DDR PC2-5200 ECC Graphics Card NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400/4400 Sound Card SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP 22" w2207 LCD Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Hard Drives 300GB Maxtor 6L300RD PATA

I have seen this problem happen time and time again in Windows 7. The only fix I have found is to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Security Essentiais.
