A real "read-only" settings.
Hello. I hope I have posted on the right section .
I have a music collection which periodically is up-dated by myself on a laptop Toshiba L505 running Windows 7 x86, Ultimate. Today I decided to up-date that collection, and with this occasion I observed that some of the old .mp3 files have another content. As an example when I tried to play "Kaoma - Lambada", It doesn't play "Lambada" like it always did, but ... something else (another song). Somebody told me that a virus must be the cause. I always have used Avira (free version), I am internet connection on that laptop, but...who knows, what can I say...could be virus.
In order to prevent unauthorized changing of my files (by a virus or by something else) I think that setting the "read-only" setting for the folder which contain that music collection will do the job.
I tried to make this setting, the windows "accepted" it without any comment :), but when I tried to delete a file (with windows explorer), ...the file ...was deleted without any comment or warning.
So, my problem is that I want that the files in that folder to be readed by any user, but the creation, modification or deletion of the files to be possible only after I accept it (clicking an "yes" on a dialog window which appear when I try to rename, create or delete a file...like it was when I was using Windows XP).
I hope you will understand what I wanted to say, and I wait for your comments.
Have a nice day !
