    Secunia PSI 3.0 Beta

The Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) Beta is a free security scanner that identifies vulnerabilities in non-Microsoft (third-party) programs which can expose PCs to attacks.
Identifies missing security updates on your PC
Covers programs and plug-ins from thousands of vendors
Extended automatic update using the Secunia Package System (SPS) NEW!
    Dramatically simplified user interface NEW!

If you like, Secunia PSI will silently update your non Microsoft programs automatically. This would be a great feature for those who never update, and just surf willy nilly. Not only for them, but they would benefit the most IMHO. I personally run PSI manually, and update anything I haven't already. I will be installing this version, and testing it myself.

A Guy, i'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Ver 3.

    I tried ver3 and don't like it.
    Can't configure or control anything.
It just scans and attempts to update anything it found out of date.
Can't even see scan results, or where/what it scanned.

V3 may be good for people that don't keep up do date, and want VERY simple...

I uninstalled and went back to v2.

    Thanks, David

I agree, it isn't for geeks. However, if you remove the startup, and just run it manually, it will accomplish the same thing, making sure you are up to date. But you don't see what it is doing. I too went back to the previous version. A Guy

Hum glad I caught this one as I tried the new version on the tester and it wasn't the same as it was before. Mind you that was some time ago.

They are taking a lot of heat over at Secunia forum, but they have said they are considering an advanced option to give the user the control back but no decision has been made. I thought I read that it may go final in June so we shall see.

It would be a damn shame if this version is how the program will be from now on. I've been using this since it was online only, and installed the PSI as soon as it came out. A Guy
