Hey all. Well, i took the easy road and re installed windows 7.
Reinstalling isn't the "easy" road and usually costs more time than fixing the problem.

I have the same problem, my stepdaughter got the computer infected got it cleaned out and the only thing missing is the action center icon i think. Most people when you ask for help say its annoying leave it like that, but if something turns something off you dont get that notification, adding this to the registry didnt turn it on, with windows 7 premium. I downloaded a program to look at the policy editor since you dont have it in this version, and the part to turn on or off the icons is not there for the action center as you can pull up on google.. I dont know where to go from here, and I agree a complete restore would be a total pita.

    Menace,

I had been searching for a few days when i came across the post with your diligent work and like you i like having the warning icon there and as you mentioned it seems that most people want it gone.
Anyway, i also aquired a virus that took out a few registry entries and the one that you pointed me to here worked great, isn't it nice to have a laptop handy that you can export entries from at will.
Now if i can find the one that is stopping my network firewall from starting i wil be a happy camper.

    Thank you Menace....
    regards,
    Doug.

Why not start a thread on the issue?
